The mathematics curriculum for grades 6, 7 & 8 covers a wide range of topics including: algebra concepts, geometry and graphing.
6th Grade students learn how to solve multi-step word problems, as well as questions that contain
more than one embedded topic.
7th Grade students have an algebra focus, where they learn how to generate equivalent expressions, and solve 2-step questions, as well as be able to represent real-world situations with expressions and equations.
The 7th Grade Honors curriculum is a combination of all 7th grade topics, as well as an introduction to the 8th grade curriculum topics of real numbers, multi-step equations, functions, transformations and volume formulas.
8th Grade students have a geometry focus, where they gain a foundation in linear equations and functions, as well as learn to manipulate coordinates on a coordinate plane.
The 8th Grade Honors curriculum is a combination of all 8th grade topics as well as the Algebra I curriculum, culminating with the Algebra Regents in June.
In addition, all students participate in and look forward to competing individually in a Math Bee competition in January as well as a Pi Day celebration in March.
