Students from Pre-K 3 through Grade 5 attend Library classes, where the overarching goal from Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade is to foster a love of reading, critical thinking, and independent inquiry, all at an age-appropriate level.
In the early childhood grades, students are introduced to the roles of author and illustrator, begin to differentiate between fiction and informational texts, and practice skills like sequencing and predicting. As they progress through the primary grades, students analyze the components of a book, identify and compare features of fiction and non-fiction, explore various literary genres, and develop the ability to use the online library system independently to locate books. In Middle School, instruction focuses on the process of locating and organizing information for research papers.
Our library, with a collection of over 7,000 books, offers a welcoming, vibrant, and challenging environment for all students.
Additionally, the library features a dedicated "creativity zone," where students can build, explore their creativity, and interact with peers.
